Minnesota's North Shore & Thunder Bay

Day 1 - Your home town to Duluth (D) - Monday
Travel to downtown Duluth and your hotel, located on the shores of Lake Superior. Tonight, you will gather together in the Top of the Harbour revolving restaurant for a welcome dinner and a bird’s eye view of this robust community.

Day 2 - Duluth to Thunder Bay, ON (B,L,D) - 228 MILES - Tuesday
Following a deluxe continental breakfast you will set off towards the lovely lakeside resort area of Lutsen. Before you arrive to tour Split Rock Lighthouse, built to overlook the "most dangerous waters in the world." Dozens of ships plummeted to their graves just offshore. A bit later enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Moose Mountain and a delicious picnic lunch. Cameras and binoculars are a must at this spectacular viewpoint.
You will also meet your Lake Superior Visits step-on guide who will accompany you to Thunder Bay. Enjoy the opportunity to walk one of the North Shore’s scenic nature trails before you enter Canada and a new time zone.
Upon arrival in Thunder Bay you will be officially welcomed to Lake Superior’s largest city at the ‘View from the Top’ (of Mt. McKay). Here Nanibijou, the famed Sleeping Giant is said to have lived. Hear his legend and see him in his glory. Afterwards, check in to your quality Thunder Bay hotel and relax over dinner in the casual elegance of a country inn or roadhouse.

Day 3 - Thunder Bay (B,L,D) - Wednesday
Thunder Bay boasts the largest Finnish population outside of Scaninavia and you will experience a taste of this heritage with breakfast. Then travel the voyageur route, discovering Kakabeka Falls, the "Niagara of the North," the city’s waterfront area and Old Fort William, a magnificent reconstruction of a "city in the wilderness."
A Canadian style “Loonie Lunch” is included on your Thunder Bay discovery tour. Visit an Amethyst Factory and learn about Ontario’s beautiful official gemstone and make a photo stop at Terry Fox Memorial Lookout, a spectacular monument dedicated to a young man who is truly a Canadian hero. This evening, return to Old Fort William for a special Voyageur Feast in the Great Hall. Historical characters from the past host your dinner with a lively combination of music, tall tales and fascinating anecdotes from the pages of local history.
