Our step-on guides are professional and personable.
They are well-versed in the facts, folklore, flowers and fauna of the Lake Superior region. We offer City tours and unique guide service for 200 miles along Lake Superior's spectacular shoreline. Book a superior guide for your motorcoach, convention or reunion group!
Thunder Bay City Tour (3 hours) - Tour the largest city on Lake Superior - an important port city watched over and protected by the famed "Sleeping Giant". Hear his story and see Terry Fox Memorial Lookout, Hillcrest Park, Centennial Conservatory, the International Friendship Gardens and an Amethyst Factory where everyone learns of the powers that Ontario's beautiful purple gemstone, Amethyst, holds for the bearer.($49/hour +5% GST)
Amethyst Adventure (up to 5 hours) - This adventure to a real working amethyst mine offers an opportunity for your clients to "uncover a gemstone." Your guide will share with you all the secrets of the beautiful purple amethyst crystal - its healing properties, its historic uses and a few unusual ones too. The open surface mine tour, easy access to the picking piles and the vistas along the route make this outing a 'Blast'. ($49/hr +5% GST)
Optional: visit to Ouimet Canyon, Eagle Canyon suspension bridge or Silver Islet.
Superior’s North Shore (4-8 hours) - On this tour, your step-on guide travels with your group for 200 miles along Ontario’s North Shore of Lake Superior - from Thunder Bay east to Marathon or vice versa. Your guide will tell you about Lake Superior - the "greatest" of the Great Lakes. Learn about her shipwrecks, ports and sailors; about the "oldest rocks in the world" as you view them firsthand - containing treasures of gold, silver and more; about moose and bear and about the prospectors and prophets of North-western Ontario. Your guide will turn a very scenic drive into an "Ontario Incredible" journey - an attraction in itself. Cost is $49/hr guide time + return ticket (min $439 CAD + 5% GST)
Variations: Your guide can meet you in Lutsen or Grand Marais to the south and travel with you along Highway 61 across the US/ON border to Thunder Bay and beyond. For fly/drive groups, we have the ability to provide a tour escort for your entire Lake Superior Circle Tour.
